Join Great Escape for this adventure, departing Antigua on 7th May 2014 from English Harbour in Antigua.

1st Leg Antigua to Horta, Azores
Approx 2300 Nautical miles

Leaving Antigua you make a course as close to the Rhum line as possible. Easterly trade winds exist at this time of year which means that your course will be somewhat north of the direct route.

This leg will take approximately 19 days and is non stop. Crew will expected to be involved fully with sailing the boat including watch keeping, steering, sail changes and Cooking.

Weather forecasts will be regularly collected by Iridium communications and also local weather guru’s such as Herb in Canada via SSB broadcasts.

Horta We will stop in Horta for a couple of days giving enough time for some sightseeing, a visit to the world famous Café Sport (Peters Café) and also completion of the ships wall painting at the marina. This is a tradition for all yachts passing through Horta.

2nd Leg Horta, Azores to Southampton, UK
Approx 1360 Nautical Miles

Leaving the Azores behind you head out through the Azores archipelago into the north atlantic heading for the western approaches to the English channel. At this time of year the sun starts to warm the days and if you are lucky you may get to see a Whale as the Azores are famous for sightings due to the abundant food sources available on the shelf around the Islands.

Harbour Having sighted land either Ushant on the French side or the Isles of Scilly if you head further north you make your way up the English Channel to Southampton where your adventure finishes at Mercury Marina on the idyllic Hamble river.

This leg usually takes approximately 10 days.

The cost of the whole trip joining in Antigua on 7th May 2014 is £2,450. We will exceptionally take bookings for individual legs at a price of £1,750 for Leg 1 and £1,000 for leg 2.
